monthAfter earning two consecutive Rookie of the Week honors, Weyburn goaltender and Providence College freshman Boyd Ballard has been named the Heaton/Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for the month of November.
He earned the honor after putting up a 5-1-1 win record, a 2.83 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in seven games.
He was previously named the Rookie of the Week on Nov. 10 and 17. On Nov. 8, he made 24 saves and his first career shutout in his second start for the Providence Friars. So far this season he has posted a record of 6-1-1, a 2.96 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage.
Boyd is the son of Lyle and Marion Ballard of Weyburn, and starred for the Weyburn Red Wings last year, earning SJHL All-Star honors. He had a record of 23-3-4 on the season, a .908 save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.90.
The next game for Providence will be this weekend, Dec. 5 and
6, against the University of Maine.
