Icy roads lead to crash

A 17-year-old Weyburn youth was injured and taken to Weyburn General Hospital after the car he was driving crashed into the east guard rail at the corner of Third Street and Highway 39 on Sunday night. The driver, Shane Preston of Weyburn, was driving west on Highway 39 when he attempted to stop for a red light and slid into the bridge. He received a broken pelvis, while the three other passengers received minor injuries. The passengers included Joey Goertzen, Tyson Bohn and Mark Preston. Police were called to a second accident, on Monday night, when an east-bound vehicle collided with a half-ton at the intersection of Coteau Ave. and 9th St. Both vehicles were extensively damaged. The driver of the east-bound vehicle, Peter Ebenal, was taken to hospital. Charges are pending.
