The Yellow Grass Blue Devils senior girls'
volleyball team competed in the 1A Provincial Championships on
the weekend of November 21, bringing home the title of Provincial
champs after a record of 14 wins and one loss.
The senior girls' volleyball team travelled to Theodore, Sask. for the competition where they were seeded second out of twelve teams competing. The round robin tournament saw the Blue Devils take their first win against Hepburn, 15-2 and 15-2, in the best-of-three match.
Saskatoon's Christian Centre was the next to succumb to the Devils with scores of 15-10 and 15-12. The first day of the tournament was ended with Holdfast taking a beating, 15-11 and 15-5.
The Blue Devils were still in full force on Saturday, facing the host team of Theodore and taking the win 15-4, 15-11. It took three sets to take the win against Bjorkdale with scores of 15-5, 10-15 and 15-2.
The semi-final pitted the 5-0 Blue Devils against the Beechy Blazers, the number one ranked team. With the support of the fans, Yellow Grass had no problem advancing to the final with scores of 15-4 and 15-2.
The final game was played against the Torquay Shadows, no strangers to the Blue Devils as they had met five times during the season. The Blue Devils defeated Torquay in two sets, 15-6 and 15-8, to capture the provincial title.
