A piece of Olympic gold

Tyler Istace, Chantal Sedger and Paige Lohse each grab hold of the gold. Jan Betker, who played third for the Canadian Olympic Women's Curling Team, brought her gold medal and her Olympic clothing to Haig School for a little bit of show and tell yesterday. Betker made an appearance in both the Grade 4 and Grade 6 classroom, the classrooms of two of her nieces. She talked to the classes about achieving goals and dreams, shared some stories about her Olympic experience and allowed the students to look at and touch her gold medal.

Preparing for a carnival

Alison Moon, Jessie Grassick and Tressa Stephenson lace their skates in preparation for the Lang Carnival on Sunday. The Lang Skating Club is in its 50th year and several past members of the club were at the carnival to celebrate. 
 

 Oungre basketball coach Scott Bansley offers some pointers to his girls team during a game against Oxbow at the Weyburn Junior High on Friday night. Nine teams from the District were playing in a three-pool tournament in Weyburn that began on Thursday night.
