Paradis KO's opponent in Calgary

Soo Line Boxing Club member Dominic "Tiger" Paradis literally gave a knockout performance at a major tournament held in Calgary this past weekend - but he didn't get a chance to do it twice.

The 139-pound Paradis defeated Mike Gleavers of Medicine Hat with a first-round KO in a light welterweight bout on Saturday night. Although the Weyburn boxer was scheduled to face an opponent from Winnipeg on Sunday, the Winnipeg coach withdrew his fighter to leave Paradis the winner by a walkover.

Weyburn heavyweight Lee Sluser won his own Saturday night fight with Justen Thesen of West Pembina, Alta. by unanimous decision before losing on Sunday to the much more experienced David Barthel of Edmonton by a second-round RSC (referee stops contest).

Chad Olson of Weyburn was unable to compete on the weekend due to a nose injury received during the Soo Line club's recent card in Weyburn on Oct. 24.

Members of the Soo Line Boxing Club will be back in action in Saskatoon on Saturday, Nov. 21.
