November was warmer and wetter than long-term average

The month of November was slightly warmer and wetter than the long-term average for Weyburn and area, the month-end weather statistics indicate.

Despite the month being warmer than average, a cold-weather record was also set in November, as the mercury dropped to -26 degrees on Nov. 12, the coldest day of the month. The previous record for that date was -22 degrees, set back in 1966.

The mean maximum temperature for November was 0.9, the mean minimum was -6.9 and the overall average was -3.

This compares to the long-term average of a mean maximum of -0.8, a mean minimum of -9.2 and an average of -4.2.

The total precipitation for November this year was 29.8 mm, compared to the long-term average of 13.9 mm. The long-term average is taken from when Weyburn opened its weather station at the filtration plant in 1952.

The warmest day of the month was Nov. 26, when the mercury rose to 9.5.
