Terry Hanson of Fillmore has once again been declared an official winner of a director's seat on the newly-elected CWB board of directors.
Hanson was declared the director for District 8 last Monday after KPMG, the accounting firm contracted to coordinate the CWB directors' election, tabulated the votes and announced the results.
Shortly after the announcement an error was detected in the results in Districts 3, 7 and 8 due to a flaw in the tabulation program. A recount was called.
But Hanson was confident he still had the support of the voters in District 8.
"Yeah, I still felt I had the numbers there. I think what happened was that I needed 20 votes after eight counts and the computer found those 20 votes when Mr. Flaman was eliminated. Instead of simply transferring those 20 it transferred the bunch," Hanson said.
The recount left Hanson with 59 per cent of the vote rather than the original 72 per cent on the first tabulation.
The results of one district, District 7, changed with the recount, placing eight single-desk supporters on the board and two voluntary-market supporters.
The replacement of William Cooper of Foam Lake, Sask. by Michael Halyk of Melville, Sask. reduced the number of voluntary-market supporters on the board by one.
Hanson said the change in District 7 was not a big surprise as the original count was very close.
"In that particular seat the win that had been announced was very close and I think a recount would have had to be done anyway."
