The weekend hours of operation at the Family Place now have a sponsor, as the Young Fellows Club of Weyburn have made a donation to cover the cost of the supervisor.
At their Jan. 28 meeting, the club decided to cover the wages for the supervisor in the amount of $1,287, said president John Corrigan.
The Family Place had wanted to be open for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday, but their existing budget couldn't cover the cost for the supervisor, he added.
Family Place director Donnita Maas said the family resource centre, located at the Souris Valley Extended Care Centre, is open from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and 1:30 to 4 on Sunday afternoons. The opening began last September and will continue until the end of May, and will start up again in September after a summer break.
She said the donation will cover the cost of the supervisor for the entire 10-month period.
In paying tribute to the Young Fellows, she said, "They've been a really good support to us and to the community."
