Two Grade 4 students from Haig School will be taking part in a provincial chess tournament, after placing at a regional tournament held on Saturday.
Eight students from Haig and two from Assiniboia Park took in the one-day competition at Luther College in Regina. The provincials will also be held at Luther College, on Saturday, March 27.
Alex Fitzpatrick and Elisa Fawcett, both in Grade 4, tied for fourth spot after playing five games against other Grade 4 students from the southeast region. Only the top four in each category advance on to the provincials.
The Assiniboia Park students are in Grade 5, and the other Haig students included four in Grade 5 and one in Grade 6.
