We asked children in grades 3 to 9 to submit an entry to the Weyburn Review to tell us why their mother is the greatest, and we received an overwhelming response; it was tough narrowing it down, but in the end, two winners have been chosen in the two categories.
Entries were received from Queen Elizabeth School, St. Dominic Savio School, Assiniboia Park School, Souris School, Haig School, Gladmar Regional School, Midale Central School and 33 Central School in Fillmore, in the categories of grades 3-6 and 7-9.
In the grades 3-6 category, the winning entry is by Katelyn Struthers, a Grade 4 student at St. Dominic Savio in Weyburn, who wrote us a poem entitled, Why My Mother is the Greatest.
In the grades 7-9 category, Grade 8 student Amy Mildenberger of 33 Central School in Fillmore submitted the winning entry, entitled, My Friend, My Companion, My Mom.
Each of the winners have received a $40 cash prize, and their entries can be found inside today's edition of the Weyburn Review, along with their photos.
