Preliminary plans in place for Ag. Society Fair

The Weyburn Agricultural Society is shaping up plans for the 91st year of agricultural exhibitions, crafts, school projects, food, rides, entertainment and more, on July 5, 6 and 7.

The draft horse show is back on this year, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, July 6 and 7. The Ag Society has also confirmed a Katadhin sheep show for July 6, as well as pony chuckwagons and chariots on the 5th and 6th and Ladies Barrel racing on Monday, July 5.

4-H shows will take place all three days, with the purebred cattle, jackpot calf, and jackpot heifer shows on Monday, and commercial pen show to take place on Wednesday.

The 4-H inter calf club show is planned for July 4-7. This portion of the fair will include weighing of steers, a judging competition, team grooming competition, showmanship competition, fed calf show, female show, awards presentation, and calf sale.

The Weyburn Ag Society Exhibition will take place in the Colosseum. Entrants from local schools will be featured June 30. 4-H youth activities will be displayed and judged July 2 and 3. Home products and household arts will be exhibited July 3 and 4, amateur photography will be on display July 2, and junior work will be featured July 3. Agricultural products will be on display July 5.

The midway will open up the first day at noon, and the second and third days at 2 p.m. Midway rides will be open until 11 p.m.

Admission to the fair will be a one-pay system, with a free grandstand. Adults can pay $7 for one day, or $14 for three days. The charge for seniors is $6 per day or $12 for a three-day admission, and for students, $4 per day or $8 for three days. Children 6-12 years will be charged $2 per day, and children under six years are free.

A family admission price of $30 is available, advance sale only, at the show office until July 4.
