The Weyburn School Division No. 97 has accepted an offer on the former Elgin School property and is awaiting approval by the City of Weyburn on zoning regulations.
Board secretary-treasurer Gord Young confirmed the school property has had an offer made for the same parcel of land as in a recent bid, subject to a number of conditions.
"It has to go through the proper channels," said Young, noting the intended use for the building may require rezoning by the city for discretionary use. He would not say who had made the offer on the building.
The school board had previously accepted an offer from Bildon Holdings which later fell through when one of the major tenants dropped out of the project.
The offer is for the school building, and a part of the property going 50 feet to the west and 30 feet to the north of the building. This parcel had previously been surveyed when Bildon Holdings made a bid.
No application has come to City Hall yet for the Elgin School property, but the next council meeting will not be held until June 14.
The remaining property, including the ball diamonds, will be retained for now by the school board, for continued use as diamonds and as a park, said Young.
