Turning the sod for $20M expansion

The sod is turned for Alcatel Canada Wire's new $20 million expansion by Mayor Don Schlosser, MLA Judy Bradley, Deputy Premier Dwain Lingenfelter and Alcatel vice-president Brian Tinkler on Monday afternoon. Alcatel plant manager John Murray, at far right, was the emcee for the announcement. The expansion will double the plant's current capacity, and when it's up and running will add 60 new jobs. Construction is expected to begin this week.

That's how it's done

Max Young teaches young people about diving on Wednesday morning at the Weyburn Leisure Centre. Diving clinics were held by the Saskatchewan Diving Association on Tuesday and Wednesday. Similar clinics are taking place throughout the province this summer in various locations.
