Tribute to Harry Jae Elder to be unveiled Sunday

A tribute to the late Harry-Jae Elder will be unveiled at the T.C. Douglas Centre on Sunday, Aug. 15, with family members and the artist to be present for the honours.

The tribute is being put on by the Tommy Douglas Calvary Centre Committee, and will take the form of a painting by Richard Widdifield, depicting many different aspects of Harry-Jae's life.

The unveiling of the production will take place upstairs in the centre at 2 p.m. with Widdifield and Harry-Jae's widow, Donnett Elder. The picture will be hung in the centre's lower level.

Widdifield is a Saskatchewan artist who was raised in Creelman. He painted a picture of Tommy Douglas, entitled, Courage My Friends, 'Tis Not Too Late To Make A Better World. This picture is being sold by the centre as a fund-raiser.

The program is open to the public and will be followed by a strawberry social in the centre's lower level.
