A Bible-oriented children's group, the Christian Service Brigade,
will be starting up in Weyburn, hosted by the Weyburn Church
of God, with an introductory evening planned for Tuesday, Sept.
28. The Christian Service Brigade will run every Tuesday evening
from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and runs a program similar to Scouts and
Guides, but is more Bible-oriented, said organizer Brock Aspinall. "It will include outdoor education like camping, hiking
and tours, activities in the gym, learning how to tie knots and
so on for the boys. We'll also be running Girls Alive, a new
program that's still being developed," said Aspinall. There
will also be crafts, puppet shows and stories at the club for
children aged six to 16. There is no charge to join the brigade, and transportation
will be provided, but organizers need to know in advance how
many are to be picked up and where. The church has leaders in place for the program, but are looking
for volunteers to come out as well, in particular the children's
parents, who are encouraged to attend on a regular basis to spend
time with their children and to help out if they can, said Aspinall. Information about the program will be provided on the introductory night on Sept. 28, he said, with hot dogs and chips served to the parents and children. The church is located at 46 12 St. For more information contact Aspinall, pastor Dennis Hall or leave a message at the church. |
