Weyburn's first Lantern Festival will light up the evening
with lanterns, music and dance on Friday, Sept. 24, as part of
the program entitled, Children's Art from the Twin Cities. The festival, hosted by the Weyburn Arts Council, will start
at the Weyburn courthouse at 6:30 p.m. with a short program.
Students from Assiniboia Park School will start off the evening
with a ribbon dance, followed by music by Michele Pilon and readings
by the Weyburn Writers Group. Those taking part in the festival will then go in a procession
at dusk to the Allie Griffin Art Gallery in the Weyburn Public
Library, where light refreshments will be served. Viewers can
also take in an exhibition of art works by children from China
and Japan. Everyone is welcome to attend, particularly those who have made lanterns over the past month. |
