The Weyburn Red Wings Booster Club is offering an evening of memorable music and entertainment from the Second World War. The Regina Chorus of the Sweet Adelines International singing group will be performing Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weyburn Comprehensive School Cafetorium, as a fund-raiser for the Red Wings. A chorus of 30 female singers will perform music from the Second World War era in barbershop style, combined with a short narrative. The Boogie, Woogie Bugle Boy event will feature guest singer Ed Willett. Willett is a former Weyburn resident and editor of the Weyburn Review. His parents still live in Weyburn. Gwen Maloney of the Red Wings Booster Club helped organize the fund-raising event. "We're always looking for fund-raisers and my sister is a member of the Sweet Adelines. They have this great program and I asked if they might want to take it on the road," said Maloney. Maloney will be at the Weyburn Square Mall selling tickets for the performance all day Thursday. Advance tickets are on sale for $13, and tickets at the door will be sold for $15. Money raised from ticket sales will go toward paying down some of the Red Wings' debt. |
