Randi Biss stays active in sports throughout the year. The Grade 9 St. Michael School student plays baseball in the summer, volleyball in the fall and basketball in the winter. "Our volleyball coach has always encouraged our team and we work harder because of it," said Biss. "Our basketball coach also encourages us." The captain of the St. Michael School Tigers volleyball team enjoys playing all sports, a habit she learned from her father. "I don't think I can live without sports now," said Biss. During the basketball season, Biss can be found playing forward, a position she has played since Grade 5. "You have to be fit to play basketball," said Biss. "You have to drive yourself and work as a team." Despite enjoying all sports, Biss loves volleyball the most. "My father coaches volleyball and got me involved in the sport," said Biss. Randi's parents, Terry and Darlene have been a great influence in her sporting life. Her father has been involved in coaching her baseball team for the last five years, as well as officiating basketball. "My mother likes watching me play," said Biss. As this is her last year in junior high, her thoughts are turning to the sporting scene at Weyburn Comprehensive School. I think I will try out for the volleyball team next year," said Biss. |
