The Midale Curling Club will host 16 youth teams in an two-day funspiel starting Saturday, Jan. 15.

This is the fourth year the Midale Curling Club has hosted the tournament.

The bonspiel will be divided into two age brackets. An eight-team junior bracket will feature teams whose players are in grades 7, 8 and 9. The eight-team senior bracket will have players in grades 10, 11 and 12.

"We have had some good teams come and use this bonspiel to practise for provincials, but in other years people have played for fun," said organizer Dave Piper.

Each team is guaranteed three games. If the bonspiel is full, there will be three events with five draws played on Saturday and three draws on Sunday. If the bonspiel is not full, teams may play a round-robin schedule. Winners at this bonspiel will receive merchandise prizes.

The deadline for entries is Wednesday, Jan. 12. This year's entry fee is $40 per team. The tournament has received four entries to date.. If you are interested in applying, contact Dave Piper in Midale or Sandra Holman in Midale.
