The annual James Weir People's Choice art exhibition, where the public votes on the area's best amateur art, opens on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery.

The public can view art pieces made by 30 local artists throughout the month. Ballots will also be available at the door which allow people to vote for their favourite piece of the show.

The ballots will be tallied at noon on Monday, Jan. 31, and the winners announced at a reception later that evening. Prizes will be awarded for the top three art pieces of the show.

The exhibit is open seven days a week during regular library hours.
