Dinner, Dancing and Diamonds fund-raiser for health foundation

The South Central Health Foundation Inc. has scheduled a special evening of Dinner, Dancing and Diamonds to be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000 at the McKenna Hall.

All proceeds from this event will be used to help purchase medical equipment for the South Central Health District.

"We're hoping to use funds to stimulate cost sharing but until we know how much money we have it's hard to say what we'll acquire," said Mehler about her medical equipment considerations.

Also featured during this evening is Diamonds in Ice. Special ice cubes will be offered for sale for $5 each for those in attendance. One person will find a .35K diamond, once their ice cube has melted. A credit voucher will be given to the winner to have this diamond mounted into a ring setting. The diamond's retail value is $2,000.

Tickets are limited and the purchase deadline is Feb. 10, 2000.

"The early interest has been considerable. What we tried to do is offer advance sales and we've had a considerable amount of support from the people who sponsored us last year. We've already sold ten tables to corporate sponsors. There are eight people to a table and we're looking at 32 tables. Last year we weren't sold out but we had 225 in attendance, but I think we'll sell out this year," said Mehler.

Cocktails for the event start at 6 p.m. with music by Moody Hollow to begin at 9 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and an income tax receipt will be issued for $25. Tickets are available in advance only at the foundation office, the Weyburn Review, CIBC or from a committee member.

Dress for the evening if formal although men may were either tuxes or suits.

"Last year we had some men in tuxes and I like that. It's not your every-day run-of-the-mill event - it's a special occasion. You just don't get too many opportunities to dress up in Weyburn," said Mehler.
