Nominations now open for Golden Spike

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce has opened the nominations for the 2000 Golden Spike Award, as well as a brand new award for local Weyburn businesses.

The Golden Service Award will be awarded to a business demonstrating consistent, outstanding customer service and/or hospitality.

"The difference between the two awards is the Golden Service Award winner will be selected by a poll of Weyburn Chamber of Commerce businesses," said chamber executive director Jacqueline Garbutt. "Nominations for the Golden Spike award can come from any individual."

The Golden Spike Award, given to the individual who gives back to the community above and beyond their job, and the Golden Service Award will be given to the winners at the chamber's annual meeting on Monday, Feb. 7. The annual meeting will be held at the Elk's Hall and will include a buffet supper. Tickets are available for $12 through the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce.

Nominations for both awards close on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m.
