A Parents' Conference on Building Positive Home and School Relations will be held at the Weyburn Comprehensive School on Saturday, Feb. 5, starting at 9 a.m.

The keynote address will be given by Leslie Anderson to kick off the day, with two one-hour concurrent sessions on a variety of topics to follow. A lunch will be provided as part of the registration.

The Weyburn Music Auxiliary will hold a membership meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 8 in the Comp library starting at 8 p.m. Parents of all band students at Weyburn Junior High and the Comp are encouraged to attend.

The second half of the McLeod series will take place in Estevan on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Weyburn has a 2-0 game lead with a 20-point advantage, after the first games held at the Comp earlier in January.

Coming up this weekend, the junior boys basketball team will host a four-team tournament, with teams from Moose Jaw, Yellow Grass and Weyburn's St. Michael Junior High.

Games get underway on Friday, Feb. 4, with WCS taking on St. Michael at 4 p.m., followed by Yellow Grass vs. Moose Jaw Peacock at 6 p.m. Games continue on Saturday at 10 a.m., noon, 4 and 6 p.m.

This past weekend the senior girls won the B side of a tournament in Moose Jaw, after losing to the eventual tournament champion, Regina Balfour, in the first round. The senior boys lost their first game, won their second and lost their third in the same tournament at Moose Jaw.

Education Minister Jim Melenchuk visited with students, toured the school and met staff and board members on Thursday afternoon, with discussions over a broad range of educational issues.

The second semester got underway on Monday with a slight increase in student enrolment. February will be the month for grad photos, and all potential grads are asked to book their sitting times and make sure they show up on time for them. Contact the grad co-ordinators if there are any questions.
