The local adjudication for arts and crafts will be held on Friday, May 5 at the Signal Hill Arts Centre, says Weyburn Arts Council curator Helen Mamer. To qualify to show their works at the adjudication series, an artist must not be supported solely by the sale of their works. Qualifying artists will get to show three to five pieces in the show. There are two categories for adjudication. Category A is for artists and/or craftspeople showing five works of art for display that will be considered at a provincial adjudication put on by the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts. Category B is for artists and craftspeople who have three works or less for display and to be critiqued. Their work will not be considered for the provincial adjudication. Two adjudicators from Regina, Antoinette Herivel and Jamie Slingerland, will spend a day with the artists giving critiques of their work and answering any questions the artists may have. The winners of the adjudication will be announced at a public reception on Friday, May 5. Winning entries earn the right to participate in the provincial adjudication which will take place in Estevan in October. To enter the adjudication, pick up an entry form at the Signal Hill Arts Centre or call. The deadline for all entries is Friday, March 24. |
