Two successful local music groups, the Johner Brothers and Soo City Blue, have been nominated for a number of Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA) awards. The Johner Brothers, based at Midale, have been nominated in several categories, including fans' choice, group of the year, best single and best video. The Johner composition, The Perfect Life, has been nominated as song of the year and group members have been forwarded for several all-star band nominations. Weyburn band Soo City Blue, which will perform at the awards show on Sunday, March 5, has also been nominated in several categories. Soo City Blue will contest the Johner Brothers for group of the year and single of the year with Farmin' Don't Pay. Band members Grant Honig and Wayne Honig have been nominated for all-star awards, respectively, steel guitar player and keyboard player of the year. The 11th annual SCMA awards will be held from March 3 to 5 at the Centennial Auditorium at Saskatoon. |
