It's a world record!

The Weyburn Performing Arts Centre Society's Fowl Supper committee shows they are number one in the world, after receiving word they will be listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the "World's Largest Canadian Fowl Supper." The official word of the record arrived on Thursday along with the certificate, which has been framed and will be hung in City Hall and later at the Weyburn Comprehensive School. In the back row from left is Al Messer, Joanne Bannatyne-Cugnet, Duane Walkeden, president Dave Craigen, Linda Aitken, Gloria Onstad and Marlene Nedelcov. In front is Jerry Ponto, Bob King, Ray Hamm and Marg Stewart. The shirts worn by committee members are available from Gloria Onstad.

Skill under pressure

Being surrounded by Moose Jaw Peacock players doesn't affect this Weyburn Eagle, who leaps up for the shot and puts the ball in the basket during the final game of a tournament at the Comp, Saturday. The Weyburn Comprehensive Eagles were victorious at home, winning the 2000 Senior Boys 4A Small Cities Basketball Championship by a score of 72-67. There were eight teams in total in the tournament.
