Schedule set for Homecoming 2000

Plans are being finalized for the homecoming celebration to be held in conjunction with the Wheat Festival from August 10 to 13.

The committee has a number of contact people set up for the different years that students graduated from Weyburn Comprehensive School. Since this is not a school reunion, organizers are reminding everyone to inform family, friends and neighbors who have moved away about the event in order to get a big turnout.

Homecomers may pick up registration materials Thursday evening and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday at the Weyburn Mall. Tours of the highlights of Weyburn will be held Friday afternoon. Saturday events include the Wheat Festival at the exhibition grounds and a dance and social held at the Colosseum following the Connie Kaldor concert.

Sunday will feature more Wheat Festival events, a 10:30 a.m. community worship service at the Colosseum, with lunch to follow. Registration fees have been set at $35 before and at $40 after August 1. A Wheat Festival pin is included with registration.

Homecomers will be able to enjoy festival highlights such as a pancake breakfast, threshing bee, horticultural show, craft show and sale, the concert, displays, continuous entertainment on the outdoor stage, stooking contest, barbecue supper and much more. Also on that weekend are performances at Signal Hill and the T.C. Douglas Centre, as well as Heritage Village Day.
