100 projects at SE Regional Science Fair

Over 200 high school students from schools around the southeast will converge on Fillmore's 33 Central High School on Friday, March 17, for the Southeast Regional Science Fair.

The annual event will feature around 100 projects covering a wide variety of sciences from 12 schools confirmed so far, said organizer and science teacher Leo Carteri.

The top two science project entries will advance to the Canada-Wide Science Fair, which will be held this year in London, Ont., the week of May 14-21.

Last year there were 114 entries, and Carteri's son Jonathan and partner Brice Collins were one of the winning entries, along with Rob Shultz, all of Fillmore School.

Tables will be set up on Thursday afternoon, and most of the projects will go up Friday morning between 7 and 8:30 a.m. Judging takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The public can view the projects from noon to 3 p.m., with the awards to be given out around 3 p.m.
