SADD expands Dead Day to full week at Comp

The message of "Don't Drink and Drive" will be an ongoing emphasis at the Weyburn Comprehensive School all this week, as members of Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) promote Dead Week.

In the past, SADD members held Dead Day, in which they would dress up as a dead person with a sign indicating what time they were killed by a drunk driver, and would be a non-speaking presence in the school's classes.

This year the members wanted to spread the message out for the entire week, with a few students taking part each day this week, said staff coordinator Len Ernst.

Each day this week begins with an announcement, bringing out a different drinking-and-driving fact, and letting the students know there will be "dead people" in their class to remind them of the consequences of driving while drunk.

The members of SADD recently did some fund-raising by providing rides to those taking part in a curling bonspiel. They will attend the April board meeting for the Comp School to talk to board members about plans for activities they would like to pursue at the school.
