RCMP constable in Weyburn for first posting after training

Since he was a kid Stacey Fishley had always wanted to be a police officer. He achieved his goal and is the newest member of the RCMP's Weyburn detachment, in his first posting.

He replaces Const. Keith Dalton, who was transferred to the Regina RCMP a few months ago.

Const. Fishley, 33, was born in Estevan and grew up in Regina. He worked for 13 years at the Co-op refinery, but always had his sights set on becoming a police officer.

His first day on the job in Weyburn was March 20, serving on the rural patrol in the Weyburn detachment area.

Const. Fishley is married with two children and a third on the way. They will be joining him the end of June when his oldest child is finished kindergarten.

As Weyburn is his first posting as an officer, there are procedures and people to learn about while getting settled into the new job.

"My challenge right now is getting to know the community. It's all new people here, and finding out how the community works," he said.

When not on duty, Const. Fishley enjoys contact sports, especially hockey, broomball and recreational football. He had coached minor hockey in Regina a few years ago, and indicated he would eventually like to try his hand at coaching here.
