Plans for Grad 2000 have been set in place at most high schools in Weyburn's surrounding region, with the earliest ceremonies to take place on May 12. Pangman High School leads off area schools with their graduation on Friday, May 12 at the Pangman Rec. Centre. There will be eight grads accepting scrolls at the exercises which get underway at 7:30 p.m. The grand march will be at 9:30 p.m. followed by a social. The valedictorian this year is Tracy Lee, and the guest speaker will be teacher Gerry Miller. The Pangman class theme is taken from a poem by Robert Frost: "In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It goes on." Radville High School will hold its graduation ceremonies on Saturday, May 13 at the high school, with exercises at 7 p.m., the dance at 9 and the grand march at 10. Guest speaker will be Al Boutin, director of education. There are 30 students in this year's grad class, and the valedictorian is Dennie Fornwald. The theme for the class is, "From a perfect ending to a new beginning." Yellow Grass School will hold its graduation on Friday, May 19, with the banquet at 5 p.m. and exercises at 8:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The exercises include an introduction of grads, the principal's address and the grand march, followed by a dance and social. There are 13 grads this year, and the valedictorian is Kim Richter. The theme for the Class of 2000 is, "Dreaming my dreams." The guest speaker at the ceremonies will be Bruce Wrubleski. Gladmar Regional School will hold their graduation ceremonies on Saturday, May 20, with 12 graduates accepting scrolls, including two exchange students from Mexico. The theme this year is, "If we learn from the past and live in the present, then the future is ours." The valedictory address will be given by Michelle Bloor. The banquet begins at 4:30 p.m., and exercises start at 7 p.m. in the school gym. The grand march will be at 9 p.m. with a dance to follow. Midale Central School will hold their graduation ceremonies on Wednesday, June 28, with six graduates in this year's class. The banquet will be at 5:30 p.m. in the Civic Centre. The exercises are at 8 p.m. in the school gym, followed by the grand march and a dance. The valedictorian this year is Jesse Rosengren. Fillmore's 33 Central School will hold graduation on June 29 with 11 graduates. The ceremonies will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the school gym. The valedictorian hasn't been chosen yet. Two schools will hold their graduation on Friday, June 30, including Stoughton Central High School, which will have 17 graduates in this year's class. The time for all the events, valedictorian and guest speaker are not yet finalized. At Milestone High School, the banquet starts at 6 p.m., the exercises are at 8 p.m. with a social at 10 p.m., all to take place at the Milestone recreation centre. There are 23 grads in the Class of 2000, with the theme, valedictorian and guest speaker still undetermined. |
