When the Francis Elementary School stages Snow White and the Seven Dwarves on May 17, it won't be a typical take on the classic story.

The play, to be held at 7 p.m. at the Sedley Gym, features the talents of Grade 5 and 6 students of the FES Drama Club, as directed by teacher Lorelei Clifford.

"The rehearsals are going great and the lines are all memorized," said Clifford. "Some of the kids really use good facial expressions and actions. There are some real little comedians in the group who love to ham it up. There are also a couple of surprises in the play - it doesn't follow the Snow White storyline exactly."

The drama club is holding practices twice a week until showtime. Tickets for this modern version of a popular standard are available at the school.
