The Weyburn Agricultural Society has set the dates for rides, food, entertainment, agricultural exhibitions, crafts, cattle shows and more, at their 92nd annual fair, July 3, 4 and 5 at the exhibition grounds. Members of area 4-H clubs will compete against each other in the livestock shows. The steer show will take place on July 4, while the female show and calf sale will take place July 5. The draft horse show will be back for another year, as will the Katadhin sheep show. Select Shows will supply the midway rides. Many talented children and adults will deliver their exhibits and have them judged prior to the start of the fair. The exhibits will be on display inside the Colosseum. Students will have items on display in the school work categories, including writing, exercise books, music, social studies, environmental education, creative writing and language, health, French and handiwork. The 4-H Youth Activities involve individual or group displays, and include everything from food to mechanical projects. There are 20 classes in this division alone. Buns, cookies, cakes, pastry, bread, jams and jellies, canned fruit and vegetables and frozen foods will tempt appetites in the home products category, and sewing, woodworking and numerous other crafts will catch the eye in the household arts category. Agricultural products out of the garden and from the field will be on display. The Sports Arena will hold commercial displays. Admission to the fair will be charged, with a free grandstand. Adults can pay $7 for one day, or $14 for three days. The charge for seniors is $6 per day or $12 for a three-day admission, and for students, $4 per day or $8 for three days. Children 6-12 years will be charged $2 per day, and children under six years are free. A family admission price of $30 is available, by advance sale only, at the show office. |
