Comp students win contest to help reduce youth smoking

The South Central Health District ran their second annual "Reduce tobacco use in youth" contest, put on through the Saskatchewan Coalition for Tobacco Reduction, with the district winners moving on to the provincial level.

The local contest was successful, say organizers, with participants entered in three categories: web page design, creative writing and art work.

In the art work category, the winners were Melissa Olson of the Weyburn Comprehensive School in first place; April Dammann of the Comp in second; and Dalton Martindale of Bengough School in third.

For creative writing, Holly Beary and Andrea Becker of the Weyburn Comp took first place, second went to Julie Lundy of Coronach School, and third was Rena Little of Coronach School.

In the web page design category, Julie Lundy of Coronach won first, Aaron Young of the Weyburn Comp took second, and Matt Bangsund of the Comp won third.
