Weyburn residents will have plenty of opportunity to celebrate Canada's 133rd birthday on Saturday, July 1, with a number of events planned in the city. The breakfast will be served until 11 a.m. Music by the Polka Knights will entertain breakfast diners from 8-9:45 a.m. Children's activities in the pool and on the lawn will take place between 9-11 a.m., including face painting. The opening ceremonies for Canada Day begin at 10 a.m., with the Legion and Knights of Columbus members forming a colour guard and marching to the monument in the middle of Jubilee Park. The event will include the singing of O Canada and greetings from the City. Activities on the grounds of the Leisure Centre are finished at noon. There will be a loonie public swim from 1-5 p.m. Fireworks will be set off from the exhibition grounds this year at dusk, approximately 10-10:15 p.m. Provincial government offices will be closed on Friday, June 30 and/or Monday July 3.
