The Crocus Sectional Bridge Tournament 2000 was held in Weyburn at the El Rancho banquet room from June 23-25.

The tournament was sponsored by the Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club, and was sanctioned by the ACBL and directed by Doug Rankin of Regina.

There were players from Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Denare Beach, Yorkton, Melville, Radville, Stoughton, Moosomin and Weyburn, plus out-of-province players from Flin Flon, Brandon, Winnipeg, Dickinson, N.D., Minot, N.D., and one player from Atlanta, Ga.

On Friday afternoon in the open pairs, Stratum A, the winners were Cathy Sproule and Eleanor Kennedy of Saskatoon in first, and Joan Webb and Fay Johnson of Weyburn in second.

In Stratum B, Cathy Sproule and Eleanor Kennedy of Saskatoon placed first, and second went to Russell MacLellan of Denare Beach, Sask., and Erna Hatlelid of Yorkton.

On Friday evening in open pairs, Stratum A, the winners were Jerry Mamer of Stoughton and Peter McLaren of Prince Albert in first, and Maurice Wilson of White City and Dev Prakhya of Regina in second.

In Stratum B, first went to Don Delparte and Kay Delparte of Regina, and second was Russell Maclellan of Denare Beach and Erna Hatlelid of Yorkton.

In Stratum C, first went to Don Delparte and Kay Delparte of Regina, and second was Diane Bell and Barry MacTaggart of Weyburn.

On Saturday, in stratified open pairs, Stratum A, the winners were Wayne Black and Evelyn Black of Flin Flon in first and Dick Anderson and Erin Anderson of Regina in second.

In Stratum B, first went to Gordon Neill and Diane Neill of Regina, and second was Bill Walker of Regina and Russell MacLellan of Denare Beach. In Stratum C, Barry MacTaggart and Warren Betker of Weyburn placed first, and Connie Knapp and Jean Warner of Saskatoon were second.

On Sunday, in Swiss teams (teams of four), the winners in Stratum A were Jerry Mamer of Stoughton, Evelyn Black and Wayne Black and Peter McLaren of Prince Albert. That team tied for first with Dev Prakhya, Gary Johannsson and Dan Mathieson, all of Regina, and Maurice Wilson of White City.

The winners of Stratum B were Donald McEwen, Marlene Nelson, Connie Knapp and Jean Warner, all of Saskatoon, in first; and Cathy Sproule and Eleanor Kennedy of Saskatoon, Russell MacLellan of Denare Beach and Erna Hatlelid of Yorkton in second.
