City churches offer Vac. Bible Schools

Some Weyburn churches are gearing up to present Vacation Bible School programs for children this summer.

The Church of Christ, located on First Avenue North at 11th Street, will be offering a Vacation Bible School from July 17 to 21, from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

The program is open for children from the age of four up to Grade 6, and will have the theme, "Who Is This Jesus?"

A group from the U.S., the Sojourners, will be conducting the sessions, which will include craft-making, a recess time with games outside, a snack time, singing and an assembly time for the whole group.

A ladies Bible study group will be held at the same time, and will start shortly after the kids get underway in their program. To pre-register children for the program, call the church and leave a message on their answering service; there is no charge to attend.

Peace Lutheran Church will offer a program from July 24 to 28, also in the mornings from 9 a.m. to noon, with the theme, "Outback Expedition."

The program is open to children from kindergarten up to Grade 6. More details on the program will be available in coming weeks.

Zion Lutheran Church and several other churches which usually offer a summer program won't be doing so this year. Grace United Church will be busy with its major renovation and addition project, and will not hold a VBS this summer.

Some churches, such as Calvary Baptist Church, Silver Heights Bible Church and Free Methodist Church, have church camps where families can take part in summer programs. Silver Heights has a camp at Kenosee Lake, while the Free Methodist camp is at Arlington Beach. Contact the respective churches for more information on these camps.

The Trossachs Bible Camp will have four weeks of camps starting on July 1.
