Beating the heat in the water

Swimmers of all ages fill the water or sunbathe poolside to try and beat the heat on Thursday at the Leisure Centre's outdoor pool. The mercury reached 32.5 degrees, part of the trend of hot summer weather present for the last couple of weeks and continuing into this week, sure to drive city and area residents to find ways to cool off.

Stooking contest

Tyler Metheral (left) and Clayton Pierce of the Wheat Festival contingent entered in the stooking contest make easy work of their row during the Saturday portion of the competition. The contest was followed on both Saturday and Sunday by the threshing bee, using antique threshing equipment to thresh out the grain in a demonstration held on the exhibition grounds.
