It's almost time again for the Weyburn Rodeo. Back for its second year after a two-year hiatus, this year's version of the rodeo is gearing up to be a full weekend of events. Spectators at the Exhibition grounds will see a host of unique contests accompany the seven-event rodeo, where competitors will compete in saddle bronc, bare back, bull riding, ladies barrel racing, team roping and steer wrestling. The rodeo competition, which will be dually sanctioned by the Canadian Cowboy Association and the Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Association, will take place both Saturday and Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Other events during the weekend include: a pancake breakfast to kick-off the event Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at the Weyburn Curling club, mutton busting for children under seven years-old, celebrity sheep dressing, a Saturday night rodeo cabaret featuring Faster Gun as well as a Christian cowboy church service Sunday at 11 p.m. The event is being put on by the Weyburn Lions Club and the Weyburn Agricultural Society. Admission for the weekend is $6 for adults and $2 for seniors and children over the age of six. |
