Three people adjourn break-and-enter charges

Three people appeared in Weyburn provincial court to answer break-and-enter related charges on Monday.

Matthew Farney, 19, had two new charges added to three counts of break, enter and theft to three homes on Rick Smith Crescent on July 22 and a charge of possession of two stolen computers from a Weyburn business between June 21 and July 1.

He was also charged with failing to appear in court on Aug. 14, and breaching an undertaking to report to the Weyburn city police station three times a week on Aug. 18. His lawyer asked for an adjournment to Sept. 11 to make election and plea.

Kenneth Kleven, 32, is charged with break-and-enter to a home on Bannerman Street on Aug. 1 and committing the indictable offence of mischief, committing mischief in damaging a house of a value over $5,000, and unlawfully being in a dwelling house on Eighth Ave. S.E. with the intent to commit an indictable offence. He also had his charges adjourned to Sept. 11 for election and plea.

George Rosiak, 41, appeared in court on a charge of break, enter and theft from a room at the King George Hotel on Aug. 6. He had the charge adjourned to Sept. 11 for plea.

Adrian MacDonald, 26, was brought in custody to court on charges of committing mischief on Aug. 21 by interfering with the lawful use of a property on Park Ave., committing assault and resisting arrest.

He was released on a number of conditions, including that he is to have no contact with the victim, he is not to go on the property specified in the charge, he is not to go into the Soo Line Day Care, and he is to have no contact with a third party. His charges were adjourned to Sept. 11 to allow him time to see a lawyer.

Martin Sammy, 36, had all of his charges, plus one new one, adjourned to Sept. 11 to be spoken to. At that time, he is to be sentenced on a series of charges from March 30-31, including possession of a stolen Ford pickup truck, break, enter and theft to a home in the RM of Tecumseh and attempted theft of a GMC van.

He is to enter an election and plea to a charge of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking on May 30, and a new charge of failing to appear in court on July 17.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Tyson Bohn, 20, who was to have a trial on Monday for two fraud charges and two breach of probation charges. He has also yet to enter a plea on two additional breach charges and two charges of failing to appear in court.

A warrant was also issued for David Balius, 25, who is charged with committing mischief by damaging a vehicle of a value over $5,000 on July 29.

Two female young offenders entered guilty pleas to a reduced charge of assault, and predisposition reports were ordered for both of them. They will return on Oct. 2 for sentencing. The girls were originally charged with assault causing bodily harm, but the Crown agreed to accept guilty pleas for the lesser included charge of assault.

Scott Fletcher, 38, had his charge of uttering a threat to a woman to cause serious bodily harm on Aug. 14 adjourned to Sept. 18 for plea. His undertaking to have no contact with the woman will remain in place, but court agreed to alter a condition to allow him contact with children through an agreeable third party.

Arnold Akachuk, 35, of the Ocean Man reserve, is charged with assault causing bodily harm between Jan. 20-21. A Legal Aid representative said he will need to have different representation, so the matter was adjourned to Oct. 16.

George Johnson, 51, of Hardy also had his charges adjourned to Oct. 16. He was charged with stealing cash from a man at Ceylon on June 28, and driving while disqualified on the same date.

Tina Littlechief, 34, had a trial date set for Dec. 4, after she earlier entered not guilty pleas in Carlyle court on charges of assault and failure to appear in court. The trial will be held in Weyburn provincial court.

Dwayne Mann, 42, will be back in court on Aug. 28 to enter a plea to a charge of committing assault causing bodily harm on July 15.

Devon Klein, 21, was charged with forging a cheque for $2,100 at Francis and using it as if it were genuine. His charge was adjourned to Oct. 16 to allow him to consult with a lawyer.

Tyler Forseth, 19, of Stoughton, entered a not guilty plea to a charge of theft of a go-cart on April 27. His trial will be held on Jan. 15, 2001 in Weyburn provincial court.
