Volunteers asked to attend Communithon first meeting

Anyone interested in providing entertainment or volunteering at the Weyburn and District United Way's annual fund-raiser Communithon is asked to come to an organizational meeting set for tonight, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Co-op board room.

The theme this year will be "Together We Make A Difference," said chairman Jerry Ponto, and the goal has been set slightly higher than last year's target, at $108,200.

The target last year was $107,899, which was reached some time after the Communithon event was held.

"We think it's very much achievable again," said Ponto.

The Communithon dates this year have been set for Oct. 27-28 in the Legion Hall.

Any businesses interested in taking part in the Communithon by holding events or fund-raisers are asked to contact Michelle Gilchrist, Shauna McKay or Iris Jacobs.

The 33-hour event itself will need both volunteers and entertainment, and they are asked to attend the meeting in the Co-op board room, located in the rear of the food store.
