One high-temperature record fell in August as Weyburn experienced close-to-average but slightly wetter weather recorded on the month. The warm-weather record was broken on the month's hottest day, on Aug. 26, when the mercury peaked at 34.5 degrees C. The prior record was 34, set in 1974. The coolest temperature was recorded twice in August, but was not a record on either day. The thermometer dipped to 6.5 on Aug. 15 and Aug. 29. he average high in August was 25.5, compared to the long-term average high of 26.2. The average low was 12.1, up slightly from the long-term average of 10.9. The overall average temperature was 18.8, almost identical to the long-term average of 18.6. The Weyburn area saw 57.4 mm of rain fall in August, which is up from the long-term average of 46.2, but far from the record of 191.5 mm set back in 1968. The long-term averages are taken from when the city began recording weather at its station in the water filtration plant in 1952. |
