The Family Place is marking a national week to celebrate families with their fourth annual Family Fun Night and other events.

The fun night will take place Thursday, Oct. 5 from 5-8 p.m.. Free hot dogs and drinks will be served from 5-6:30 p.m., and kids events will take place from 6-8 p.m. Activities that evening include a fish pond, face painting, sucker pull and a jello-eating contest, plus plenty of things to do in the playrooms.

The Family Place will hold a community bake-off challenge prior to the event, with everyone invited to enter their homemade muffins or cookies by noon on Oct. 5. There will be an adult category and a children's category. Celebrity judges will pick the winner and prizes will be awarded at the fun night.

A kid's colouring contest opened on Monday. Entries will be accepted until Oct. 5 at noon and will be posted at the Family Place. Winners will be announced and given prizes at the Family Fun Night. Colouring pages can be picked up at the Family Place.
