Weyburn's post office employees are making it easy for local residents to donate to the Salvation Army food bank. The fifth annual food bank drive will see postal workers and their families collect donations door-to-door on Saturday, Sept. 23. "This is a time when the shelves at the Food Bank are really low. We're hoping for everyone's support," said postal carrier and organizer Yvonne Kerr. Notices for the drive have been delivered around Weyburn to residences. The notice should be placed half outside of a resident's mailbox and visible from the street to signal the resident's participation. Organizers are asking that donations are placed outside front doors or apartment building entrances, so that they are visible from the street, by 9 a.m. on Saturday. Local post office employees will be around to pick up the items and deliver them to the Salvation Army Food Bank. Residents who receive their mail in lock boxes or at the post office can bring their donations to the retail counter at the main post office location on Third Street during business hours, until Friday. |
