Hemphill, Day win bridge at Senior centre

A number of games and activities were played at the Weyburn Wheatland Seniors Centre in the past week, with one tournament and the month-end supper coming up.

In bridge on Monday, Joyce Hemphill won first, Helen Duczyminski placed second and Eleanora Schikurski was third. On Friday, Nancy Day placed first, Harry Webb was second and Paul Wanner was third.

In cribbage, first place went to Muriel Hall and Rose Flamont, second was Chris McLeod and Bertha Messer, and third went to Birdie McKenzie and Alice Myers.

Taking first in canasta was Helen Wicks, second was Doris Atter and third was Arvella Soroka.

In kaiser, first went to Mae Adolphe and Mable Nicholson, second went to Eleanore Roy and Iva Dorey, and in third was Irene Phillips and Eleanora Schikurski.

On Tuesday, dancers were entertained by the Kids on the Block, and on Sept. 26 the music will be provided by Junior Carlberg.

In hi-low whist, first place was won by Lloyd Soroka and Herb Grams, second was Grace Endicott and Birdie McKenzie, and third went to Irene Phillips and Mary Brillinger.

Winning first in trump whist was Paul Hammer, second was Nellie Teesdale, and third was Josie Johnston tied with Frances Dreger.

Coming up at the centre will be a teachers' lunch today, Sept. 20, and a hi-low whist tournament will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27. An Alzheimer's Society coffee break will be held on Sept. 21.

The month-end supper is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 29, featuring a turkey supper, with cribbage to follow the meal.

A casino bus will leave on Monday, Oct. 2; those interested must book through Lynn on weekday mornings.
