The Weyburn Humane Society's Pawprints 2001 calendar is on sale now, and will be sold through a door-to-door blitz.

The calendars, which are priced at $10, will also be sold from the shelter at 56 16th St.

There were 69 entrants submitting a total of 140 pictures of their pets for the calendar. The top 12 pictures of these four-legged friends were featured, with helpful pet tips included.

Also featured is artwork by April Dammann, a Grade 11 student at the Comp who won the art contest for the cover page.

This is the major fund-raising event for the year at the Weyburn Humane Society. All the proceeds stay in Weyburn to support the shelter.

Hundreds of homeless cats and dogs pass through the animal shelter every year. Many animals are returned to their owners. The Weyburn Humane Society promotes responsible ownership and have adopted out the majority of homeless animals.

Animal control services in the city help to keep animals from running at large and prevent injury or death from exposure to the outdoor elements.
