Neat stuff at the book fair

Children and parents check out the book titles, pencils and book marks at the book fair during Assiniboia Park School's open house on Thursday evening. Many children were also kicking up their heels at the sock hop dance in the gym, while parents met their children's teachers for the new school year.

Flashback 1968: Trudeau in Weyburn

Pierre Trudeau wears a 10-gallon hat while he speaks to a crowd during an election campaign stop in Weyburn shortly after winning the leadership of the Liberal party in 1968. He went on a few weeks later to win his first mandate as Prime Minister, a position he held for 16 years altogether. Trudeau died on Thursday in Montreal at the age of 80 years, and a state funeral was held in Montreal on Tuesday.
