Weyburn genealogy society to host a one-day seminar Oct. 28

The Weyburn branch of the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society will hold a one-day seminar on Saturday, Oct. 28, with a speaker from England.

The guest speaker will be Lady Mary Teviot, who has been involved in family history research for over 25 years.

The meeting will be held at the Weyburn Credit Union's conference room, and entrance is by the east side door in the new building. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and there will be a $5 registration fee. Lady Teviot will lecture from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., break for lunch and resume from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

A book stall with relevant literature will be available at the lecture. Most genealogical sources in the United Kingdom can be covered; bring a list of questions in regard to your family research.

Coffee and tea will be available. Organizers suggest either bringing a bag lunch or going out for lunch.

Born in Sussex, Lady Teviot is married to Lord Teviot who succeeded to the title in 1968.

Lecture tours have been undertaken by Lady Teviot in Ontario, Alberta and B.C., as well as Australia, South Africa and the U.S.

She is on the list of accredited speakers for East and West Sussex and Surrey Women's Institutes, and is an executive member of the Federation of Family History Societies, holding the position of International Liaison Officer.

She is also a member of the executive committee of the Sussex Family History group, the Friends of the East Sussex Record Office and a member of the Council of the British Record Association.
