Getting the premier's autograph

Jeff Davies, a member of Assiniboia Park School's Grade 6 choir, holds still as Premier Roy Romanow signs his autograph onto the back of his shirt on Thursday. The choir and the premier were on hand for PanCanadian Petroleum's official launch of their CO2 miscible flood project; the choir mobbed the premier to get his autograph in light of his impending departure from provincial politics. He announced recently he would retire once a replacement has been chosen by his party in late January.

Reading in the book corner

Two groups settle into the reading corner at Assiniboia Park School's library during the launch of their accelerated reading program on Thursday evening. At upper left, from left to right, is Alix Hilkewich, Lindsay Ermel, Kendra Weimer and Kelsey Nagy; reading in the nook below is Heather Gordon to Cherisse Rainey, Laim Gordon, Monica Gordon and Bridgette Gibbs. The reading night was one of several activities held to mark Education Week at the school.
