Comp students, staff give over $1,000 to Communithon

Students and staff of the Weyburn Comprehensive School combined efforts to contribute over $1,000 for this year's Communithon fund-raiser.

The Comp Jazz Band and other performers provided entertainment on Friday, along with the school's rejuvenated choir under the leadership of Colleen Weimer. Things are looking good for the Comp's music program this year, with 121 students taking part in the concert band, jazz band and choir.

The football season came to an end for the Eagles in Regina on Wednesday, as they lost to Regina Miller.

Both volleyball teams placed fourth in tournaments with the boys at Balgonie and the girls at Moose Jaw. Tonight, Nov. 1, the second half of the Red Coat Series of volleyball will take place in Estevan, with WCS holding a 6-2 lead in games.

Friday the girls' volleyball team is in Lumsden, and the boys' team will be in Yorkton. These are the final tournaments of the season with playoffs coming up in the near future.

The Career Fair 2000 is coming up on Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 1 to 8 p.m. The community is invited to listen to Weyburn's own Paul Martin speak at 1 p.m. in the gymnasium, with presentations and displays.

Report cards will be given out on Nov. 9, and Nov. 10 is a division-wide holiday for Remembrance Day. Parent-teacher interviews will be held on Monday, Nov. 13.

The drama club's presentation of "The Beverly Hillbillies" will take place on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 20 and 21. Also, remember to vote on Monday, Nov. 27, and then come to the school for the SRC-sponsored fowl supper. Students will supply entertainment and staff and parents will serve up fine food for this annual event.
